By now we’re all aware of the airline rule that liquids no bigger than 100ml each belong in a plastic bag, so we decided to let you in on a couple of other tips that also might be helpful and less well-known. Here’s a quick and simple guide to the ins and outs of cabin luggage so you have all the information you need at a glance, have a read!

Air France customers can bring one piece of hand luggage with maximum dimensions 55 x 35 x 25 cm on board, as well as a smaller item up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm.
On British Airways flights you have a little more allowance. Your cabin luggage should not exceed 56 x 45 x 25 cm and every passenger is allowed to bring another personal piece of luggage, e.g. a backpack, into the cabin which should fit within the measurements of 40 x 30 x 15 cm.
Cathay Pacific allows you to bring a cabin case sized max. 56 x 36 x 23 cm. You can also bring a personal bag sized up to 15 x 30 x 40 cm, so that it fits under the seat in front of you.
EasyJet is unique in that it has no weight limit for cabin bags, provided you can lift them yourself. You can bring a large cabin bag up to max. 56 x 45 x 25 cm if you book an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat. Standard fares only include a small underseat bag (45 x 36 x 20 cm). Traveling with a cabin case featuring a smart front pocket will be a real life saver.
On Emirates, you can bring a cabin bag measuring up to 55 x 38 x 20 cm. Note that Economy passengers are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage only.
On Eurowings flights, a large hand luggage piece up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm is included with "Smart" fares or as an add-on. The basic fare only includes a small personal item (40 x 30 x 25 cm).
Iberia lets you bring one carry-on bag sized max. 56 x 40 x 25 cm and one personal item that fits underneath the seat in front of you (40 x 30 x 15 cm). For example, a top case.
The hand baggage allowance on KLM allows for luggage up to 55 x 35 x 25 cm. You can also bring an additional bag up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm.
Lufthansa’s rules for carry-on baggage are luckily quite similar for most of the European airlines. Approved measurements are 55 x 40 x 23 cm, and you can take an additional small item, e.g. a briefcase, no larger than 40 x 30 x 10 cm.
When you're flying Norwegian on a "LowFare+" ticket, you are allowed to bring two items: carry-on luggage measuring up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm, and a personal item with a max. size of 38 x 20 x 30 cm. Basic "LowFare" tickets only include the underseat bag.
Ryanair allows passengers with "Priority & 2 Cabin Bags" to bring a 10kg wheelie bag (55 x 40 x 20 cm) plus a small personal bag (40 x 20 x 25 cm). Without Priority, you are only permitted the small personal bag.
Turkish Airlines allows one piece of hand luggage sized up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm. In addition, you can bring another item, such as a backpack made for traveling.
When you're traveling with Vueling, TimeFlex or Premium customers can bring a piece of hand luggage no larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Basic fares include only one smaller piece of luggage measuring not more than 40 x 20 x 30 cm.
When you're flying Wizz Air with "Wizz Priority," you can bring a trolley bag measuring up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm. Standard tickets only allow one small carry-on item (40 x 30 x 20 cm).
Depending on the airline and the class you’re flying, there are different weight limits for your cabin luggage. Whilst two pieces of luggage at 8 kg are allowed in the cabins of most business classes, you would have to limit your belongings to only one piece weighing 8 kg in economy or economy plus. Some airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Cathay Pacific limit combined luggage weight to 7 kg. On Ryanair, carry on luggage has to be below 10 kg, while Air France and KLM allow up to 12 kg. EasyJet is a rare exception with no weight limit for cabin bags. The absolute standard on Lufthansa and Eurowings flights, however, is always around 8 kg.
