Alyssa’s training to date is already on par with that of astronauts more than a decade her senior: by age 14 she had attended seven space camps and three space academies, and in 2016 was the youngest person to be accepted to the Advanced Polar Suborbital Science in the Upper Mesosphere (PosSSUM) Academy, where she completed intensive training in microgravity, decompression, underwater survival and space suit handling, officially certifying her for suborbital space travel.
At just 12 years old Alyssa was invited by NASA to be on the MER 10 panel in Washington DC to discuss future missions to Mars. With so much experience in such a curious young mind, Alyssa was the perfect collaboration partner to explore space travel for the Future of Travel design study.
